Darcy Sarr is an artist who works in many mediums, mostly drawing and crocheting, using primarily colored pencils. Darcy has lived in many places, including Colville, WA; Porterville, CA; Arcata, CA; and Spokane, Washington, where she currently resides. Darcy spent significant time watching horror and science fiction movies with her family growing up and exploring the rapidly evolving world of video games, which have greatly influenced her artistic style. The purpose of her art is to express the world as she sees it, capturing moments of important people in her life and exploring ideas of death, aging, beauty, and humor. She wants her art to invoke curiosity and inspire other people to explore what they can create from ideas in their minds. Art is a way of processing emotions, interpreting the world we are living in, and expressing ourselves creatively, which is a significant part of being human and why Darcy strives to encourage artmaking in others through pursuing a career in art education. She has studied art at Porterville College, Cal Poly Humboldt, and Eastern Washington University. She enjoys being in spaces where she is surrounded by other artists making art, and she strives to contribute to these communities no matter where she is living.
